I graduated with honors from the 1000-hour certification program at the Boulder College of Massage Therapy (BCMT) in March 2008. I have also completed advanced studies in Zen Shiatsu through BCMT's Art of Zen AOS Certification program.
Before I started my career in massage therapy, I was a teacher of English as a Foreign Language (EFL). After graduating from the University of Michigan in 2003 with a BA in Japanese and Linguistics, I went to Montreal (Canada), Osaka (Japan), Bagnols-sur-Ceze (France), Austin, TX, and then Tokyo (Japan) to teach EFL before I settled in Boulder, CO. While the work of teaching English conversation was never sufficiently satisfying for me, living overseas and in Texas did help me cultivate a sense of adventure and risk-taking as well as a deep love for all the unique children and adult students of mine in whose eyes I always saw the same spark of light.
In my free time, I like to write, dance, sing and meditate. Some of my written work can be found in Natural Solutions Magazine (formerly Alternative Medicine Magazine), where I used to work as an Assistant Editor.
